Cloud Platform is another important component of the Cloud. A Cloud platform is the ability to build, test, deploy, run and manage applications in the Cloud. Cloud platform come in different varieties and as such provide alternatives to developers. Cloud platforms as a general rule are low-cost, highly-scalable hosting/development environments for we-based applications and services. In simplified view, one can consider cloud platform as an advanced kind of web hosting. However in case of cloud platform scalability and availability are better than in case of traditional web-hosting. One drawback of cloud platform is the portability. Once an application is developed for a specific platform then moving it to another platform or back to traditional platform is not an easy task.
