Cloud Computing: Key IT-Related Risks and Mitigation :Strategies for Consideration by IT Security Practitioners Thomas J. Betcher
This review of selected literature, published between 2007 and 2009,identifies key IT-related cloud computing risks that should be considered by security practitioners. Three types of cloud computing risks are examined: policy and organizational, technical, and legal. Risk mitigation strategies are also explored, and include audit controls, policies and procedures, service level agreements, and other forms of governance.

Cloud Computing for Linguist- by Dorothee Beermann,  Pavel Mihaylov
The system presented is a web application designed to aid linguistic research with data collection and online publishing. It is a service mainly for linguists and language experts working with language description of less-documented and less-resourced languages. When the central concern is in-depth linguistic analysis, maintaining and administering software can be a burden. Cloud computing offers an alternative.

Cloud Computing and Government
Towards Cross-platform Cloud Computing : M Slawinska, J Slawinski : Cloud computing is becoming increasingly popular and prevalent in many domains. However, there is high variability in the programming models, access methods, and operational aspects of different clouds, diminishing the viability of cloud computing as a true utility. The ADAPAS project attempts to analyze the commonalities and differences between cloud offerings with a view to determining the extent to which they may be unified. We propose the concept of dynamic adapters supported by runtime systems for environment preconditioning, that help facilitate cross platform deployment of cloud applications. This vision paper outlines the issues involved, and presents preliminary ideas for enhancing the executability of applications on different cloud platforms.

Cloud Computing in Academics-
Applications of Cloud Computing in Academic Institutions- Simarpreet Singh Gulati, Aman Malhotra and Prince Kumar

ABSTRACT: Cloud Computing is making it probable to split the method of building an infrastructure for service provisioning from the Institutions of providing end user services. Today, such infrastructures are usually provided in huge statistics centers and the applications are executed distantly from the users. For institutions, switching to cloud-based services afford them the capability to supply superior association and research abilities, while at the same time, providing a chance to slice IT outlay while providing the similar - or superior - levels of computing services. Magnified by the need to strip overhead outlay at a moment when public and private institutions are grappling with important budget shortfalls, Cloud Computing allows institutions to not just utilize the resources of commercial cloud providers - many of which are accessible to them either for free or at condensed costs. With the cloud model, students and faculty can take benefit of the skill to work and converse from anyplace and on any device using cloud-based applications. The benefits for superior education hub upon the scalability and the finances of Cloud Computing. These
