The Practice of Omnipresence
A Conversation Commences
We have available today the technologies, knowledge and experience needed for the successful practice of Omnipresence. I have chosen the word omnipresence with due consideration and after long deliberation. Two of the powerful technologies our times- cloud computing and social media have virtually eliminated all natural barriers ( Time, distance, language) that had stunted our reach and richness and enabled each one of to be capable of being present anywhere and accessible in many ways.
While resources are available, skill needed to realize the full potential are universally not. There is no area of human experiment and experience where the always tremendous gap between the knowledge and performance of the leaders and the knowledge and performance of average is wider. A Conversation Cloud Computing 366 does not exclude from its aims the advancement of the frontier of knowledge; it hopes indeed to make some experiential contribution to it. But its first aim is to narrow the gap between what can be done and what is being done; between the leaders in industry and society and average.
Though not concerned with technicalities, this is a practical conversation. It is being carried out of many years of experience in experimenting with cloud computing and social media resources and working with practitioners and smart generation of students. And this conversation aims at being a guide for people, enabling them to consider their station of life- students, professional and others against the power and potential of cloud computing and social media, enabling them to examine their own situation, and to identify and integrates cloud computing and social media resources to improve their own richness and reach, as well as that of enterprises they own or work for.
For young and upcoming generation in society and profession, this conversation should provide a vision of what practice of omnipresence is and concrete guidance in the knowledge, performance and discipline that are needed for qualify for advancement in social and professional endeavors.
But this conversation is being conducted fully as much as for the citizen- or netizen who is coming increasingly in contact with cloud computing and social media in recent days. The citizen perhaps more than anyone else, needs to know what cloud computing and social media are, what they can do, what is their power and potential and what she can rightfully expect from it. For ignorance of Cloud Computing and social media, of its functions and contribution, of its works, of its standards and of its concerns, of its responsibilities is one of the weakest links of contemporary connected world.
Note: I am using conversation is the mode of communication for Cloud Computing 366. The reason behind is clear. In the connected world, conversation is possible and should be the basis of all communications. While conversation are natural for humans, they are well supported by cloud computing technologies and social media.
