What is it? .

A lot has been talked about cloud computing in recent days. Is cloud computing a "real thing"?
Teacher:
Popularity of any term may not be the indicator of its utility. However you often hear the term cloud computing because it is the marketing term used to describe a set of technologies that are transforming the way business and other human endeavors such as Government and more. Cloud computing aims to make the internet as a " main" interface between customers and business. It is a new service delivery model which intends to bring producers and consumer together and conduct all their transactions on the internet.
One simple example is the way we use Google search engine. A user needs a computer connected to the net to access and avail the search engine. At the same time, Google has to put its service available in the internet and make it accessible to user

Another analogy
To put it another way: Internet is to cloud computing what railway platform is to railways and passengers. It is a common place where passengers and railway meet. Passengers come to station for catching trains and railways come there to pick up passengers.
