Half of IT professionals participating in cloud initiatives within their organizations need more education on the technology, according to a new survey by IT monitoring software company ScienceLogic. The company surveyed more than 1,000 IT professionals on cloud computing adoption and those pros said they lacked the required skillset for jobs in the upcoming year.
Employers will also face an unqualified pool of unqualified candidates in 2014, the survey found. While spending on IT will increase, employees will "make the same or less money year-over-year in 2014."
Key survey findings include the following:
- Overall IT spending in 2014 will increase by a net margin of 35 percent compared to 2013.
- Almost two thirds of respondents intend to increase their budgetary spend by 6 percent to 20 percent year-over-year.
